DEL Institute students share what they learned in DEL Foundations

We’re excited to share with you some of what our DEL Institute cohort members learned in DEL Foundations!

The DEL Foundations online course provides an overview of the key components of the nationally acclaimed DEL Model of teaching dance in a wide variety of learning contexts. The course is based on on the highly popular DEL Foundations course that has been taught at 92NY since DEL’s inception in 1995.

The DEL Institute 2023-24 cohort engaged in the DEL Foundations course as a part of their extensive training in all aspects of the DEL Model. We’re excited to share some of their work with you.

Students created Effort Dances, each based on two opposing qualities of movement. Check out three examples below:

Katie Cox: Lingering, Snappy

Johari Mayfield: Punch, Glide

Carmen Caceres: Buoyant, Intense

Johari also shared this video of her facilitating a partnering exercise, Relationship Mirroring, with Katie and Carmen!

We are so proud of our DEL Institute cohort members, and we can’t wait to share more of their work this year!

Are you interested in taking DEL Foundations? Come experience the key components of the DEL Model in-person this summer from July 1-3 in DEL Essentials, facilitated by Jody Gottfried Arnhold and Ann Biddle, OR stay tuned for our asynchronous DEL Foundations course in Fall 2024!
