Explore the DEL Model in DEL Foundations… from Home!

Explore DEL’s comprehensive and inclusive model of dance education in this upcoming, online, asynchronous course.

In an introduction video for DEL Foundations, Ann Biddle, Director of The DEL Institute – Teacher Certificate Program, shares what participants can expect from the course:

This is the first time DEL Foundations will be offered in an online, asynchronous format. This course was originally designed in DEL’s first year in 1995 and has been updated through the years. In it, we explore the DEL model with its specific focus on applied Laban Movement Analysis and culturally responsive dance pedagogy.

You’ll learn about the philosophical and educational roots of dance education while building a rationale for dance education for all learners. Dance education can be meaningfully applied to learning in other disciplines, like language arts and social studies.

This course offers the opportunity to interact in our online community by participating in activities designed to actively engage you in movement exploration and discovery, collaborative choreography, practice teaching, discussions, self reflection, and lesson planning.

By the end of this online DEL Foundations course, you’ll be able to articulate a vision statement that represents your core teacher’s heart, and consider applications of the DEL model to your unique teaching contexts.
