Jody Gottfried Arnhold Featured on "Arts Educators Save the World" Podcast

“The agenda of dance education and education is the same.”

DEL Founder Jody Gottfried Arnhold was recently featured on the podcast, “Arts Educators Save the World.” She joined President/CEO of New Victory Theater, Russell Granet, and they each shared more about their advocacy in arts education.

The episode discusses where the performing arts fall to the wayside in the greater arts advocacy conversation.

“…We’ve got to get the message clear. What is arts education? It’s the certified teacher. We weren’t always there. People didn’t always know that or always understand it. It’s the certified teacher plus the cultural organization. That’s arts education.”

– Jody Gottfried Arnhold, Arts Educators Save the World

Jody’s belief in Dance for Every Child—the core heart of the work we do at DEL—really shines through in her words. She has a fierce determination to ensure dance is at the table whenever arts education is discussed.

“Music and art have a long tradition of being in the schools. It’s more common. They were first, music and art, and are always first.

In some standards—some writing and some advocacy—they say ‘the arts’ and they mean music and art. They don’t mean dance and theater. Dance and theater have so much to bring to education! …The agenda of dance education and education is the same.”

Jody continues to inspire us in our daily work at DEL.
