Celebrating Jody’s Tenure as 92NY Board Chair and Welcoming Jill Lafer!

“This place is precious. This place rocks. I’m proud of us. I hope you are too.” — Jody Gottfried Arnhold

Back in June, DEL Founder Jody Gottfried Arnhold gave remarks to culminate her tenure and introduce the new Board Chair of the 92nd Street Y, New York. Jody served as 92NY Board Chair for the past three-and-a-half years. Reflecting on her time in the position, she shared:

“I have experienced literally hundreds of things I’ll never forget in these past three-and-a-half years. Allow me to highlight just two of them.

Our early childhood programs have been home to my four grandchildren, Ida, Henry, Gus and Georgia. I’ve loved having an inside seat to witness the depth and richness of the parenting center, the nursery school, and the camps.

And the Dance to Belong exhibit cemented 92NY as the birthplace of modern dance in America. And as a home for artists of every race, color, and creed—as a home for people of every race, color, and creed.

This place is so unique, so complex, and so extraordinary because of each of you. From the smiling security guards at the front door who keep us all safe, to the maintenance staff who make it all work and shine, to the heads of programming, programs, and staff, who make it buzz and hum, to the superb leadership of the executive suite, to the dedicated Board of Directors.

This place is precious. This place rocks. I’m proud of us. I hope you are too.”

Erin Lally, Director of DEL, led the audience in a Movement Sentence in honor of Jody, with action words Reach Connect Embrace:

And Seth Pinsky, CEO of 92NY, offered his gratitude for Jody’s work:

“I’d also like to extend my thanks to outgoing Chair Jody Gottfried Arnhold, who has led 92NY through a remarkable era of transformation – a crucial capital campaign to fund a top-to-bottom building renovation, and an institutional rebrand. Jody has left an indelible mark on the 92nd Street Y, and we will be forever grateful for her steadfast leadership.”

— Seth Pinsky

The new Board Chair of 92NY is Jill Lafer! She began her tenure on July 1.

In passing the gavel to Jill, Jody shared:

The most important job of the Chair is finding the right successor. I’m one-hundred percent confident we have done that. Last month, the Board of Directors elected Jill Lafer as the next chair of 92NY. She’ll begin her term at the end of the month.

I’ve known Jill for a long, long time. Over four decades. She is a woman of great integrity, she is dedicated, she is loyal, she is kind. And she is a force.

— Jody Gottfried Arnhold

Jody plans to remain heavily involved in 92NY’s work. She is excited to be at Jill’s right hand and to witness all that she accomplishes during her tenure.

Please join Jody, Seth, Erin and the entire DEL team in congratulating Jill Lafer!
