Margaret Bary

Margaret Bary (MFA, CMA) facilitates teacher training workshops and mentors NYC Pre-K teachers through the Dance Education Laboratory at 92Y. As a Dance Specialist at Brooklyn Friends School for almost 30 years, she developed a Laban based program for Preschool through 5th Grades that included body awareness, improvisation and composition, with units of study often related to classroom curricula in science, language and social studies. She also served as the Performing Arts Department Chair, advocating for programs and supporting colleagues in teaching dance, music and theater. In addition to her career as a creative dance educator, Margaret teaches English Country Dance and leads Community Folk Dancing. Underlying all of her work with children and adults, she believes that participatory dance experiences foster joy, self-expression and connection between people.
