Sumi Clements is a performing arts professional, dance educator and writer currently living in New York. She holds an MFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and a BFA in Dance from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Summation Dance Company, showing work most notably at BAM, Jacob’s Pillow, Baryshnikov Arts Center, Danspace at St. Mark’s Church, City Center and 92Y, among many others. Sumi has been a member of Peter Kyle Dance, Gerald Casel Dance Company and Crossman Dans(c)e, and has performed in the works of Kyle Abraham, Doug Varone, Alwin Nikolais, Andrea Miller and Sydney Skybetter. Sumi currently writes editorials for Danceplug and works as a technical writer at Google. She guest lectures and conducts residencies at universities around the country in addition to her creative and performing work.
