Amanda Marsala

Amanda Marsala has been a teacher with the NYCDOE since 2007. She received her Masters with a Dual Certification in Special Education and General Education in 2009. She earned her Physical Education degree in 2017. In 2019 she received a certificate in Hatha Yoga from Yoga Alliance following a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training program in Cambodia.

She created and taught a Dance program at the District 75 High School 721K students with a variety of disabilities. She taught there for nine years, receiving many grants and awards, including the “We’re Walking Here” contest with her Dance team recording a public service announcement for the Department of Transportation (available on YouTube). She also received a Capezio grant and was awarded a quarter million dollar grant to build a state of the art dance studio.

Amanda currently teaches physical education at a general education elementary school in Brooklyn. She implements yoga in her curriculum, including a yoga club and yoga afterschool program. Outside of the DOE she teaches Yoga at a local studio. She considers herself a lifelong learner and is passionate about evolving in her practice. She loves to share her tools and experiences with her students and peers.
