In this webinar, Catherine Gallant (DEL Faculty, dancer, choreographer, educator, curriculum writer and filmmaker) explores the relevancy of Isadora Duncan’s work in 21st century dance education. Catherine will share her background in the learning and teaching of the work and the ways in which it has evolved over the last 50 years. From a contemporary perspective we will fine tune our inquiry and seek to examine Duncan’s vantage point through her most thought provoking work. What were her innovative and impactful discoveries? What was she not able to accomplish in her tragically short life? How did her influence shape ideas in dance education, dance therapy, dance history and definitions of dance and choreography? Examples of curricular integration of Duncan’s work will be shared and discussed.
