In this dynamic, movement-based House workshop, participants will take a deep dive into the history and vocabulary of House dance and culture to explore rich applications for bringing House dance and music into their classrooms. Throughout this 4-hour in-person experience, participants will explore their own personal connections to House and the entry points to House for their students. Facilitators Shakia Barron and Eli Kababa will share an embodied history of House dance and will guide participants in embodied exploration of House dance vocabulary, group discussions, reflections, all while brainstorming lesson plans and activities to bring back to their students.
In addition to the 4-hour workshop, participants will receive access to an accompanying asynchronous course component, including video footage and other resources.
