Exploring Dances of Uganda with DEL will introduce participants to dance, music, and teaching strategies from Uganda, East Africa through a contextualized framework, embodied learning, and creative practice through the DEL model.

Participants in this 2-session course will gain insight into the diverse cultures of Uganda and will develop their own pedagogic vision that builds on the material presented. Through engaged practice, critical thinking, multi-modal instruction and guided exploration, participants will learn dances, songs, and stories from Uganda and will connect the DEL model to consider multiple entry points into guided discovery. Master teaching artists from Uganda will provide content both synchronously and asynchronously and will be supported by facilitators and educators who are teaching in NYC schools, communities, and colleges. The course will take place synchronously over Zoom. This course is open to dancers, teachers, musicians, administrators, and people who are interested in this work.
