DEL Dance in Elementary School is a six-module asynchronous course which utilizes the DEL Dance Framework as a foundation for teaching dance to students in grades K-5. Each module explores movement possibilities while connecting the National Core Arts Standards in Dance with a variety of entry points including ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies content. Throughout this course, participants will engage with resources, analyze and revise content, and create new lessons for immediate implementation with K-5 learners. All modules will include materials to support instruction for diverse populations. This course will include applications for dance educators in K-5 schools, studio settings, and teaching artist-settings.
Please note: This course is offered asynchronously through DEL’s online learning management system. Access to the course opens to participants at 8 am ET. Students taking the course for SUNY Empire State University credit are expected to complete assignments on a weekly basis, from Apr 28 – Jun 8, 2025. Audit students may access course materials at their leisure, are not expected to complete course assignments, and retain access to all course materials for 1 year.
