Celebrate 30 Years of DEL with a Special Webinar: Learn to Lead a Movement Sentence Choir in Your Community!
Founded in 1995 by Jody Gottfried Arnhold, the 92NY Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) celebrates 30 years of transforming dance education!
As part of our 30+ Movement Sentence Choirs for 30 Years initiative, join us for a special recorded training with Taryn Vander Hoop and Erin Lally that will equip participants to lead a Movement Sentence Choir (MSC) in their own communities. In addition to the recorded webinar, registrants will also receive a copy of the DEL Movement Sentence Choir Manual and leave prepared to bring this joyful, community-based dance experience to life.
What is a Movement Sentence Choir?
The DEL Movement Sentence Choir combines two concepts, Laban’s famous movement choirs and the DEL Movement Sentence, to create a joyful dance experience that brings together dancers of every genre, age and ability.
Originally conceived in the early 1900s, Laban’s movement choirs were democratic, community-centered celebrations of movement — often performed outdoors and designed to bring people together through dance.
In reimagining this form for the 21st century, DEL created the Movement Sentence Choir: a collaborative group choreography structured around a theme and action words, developed in a workshop setting and culminating in a performance. Inclusive of all dance genres, ages, and abilities, MSCs offer a powerful model for collective artistic expression.
This training is a part of DEL’s mission to launch 30+ Movement Sentence Choirs across the country (and beyond!) in celebration of our 30th anniversary. Be part of this growing movement and help us bring dance into communities everywhere!
